Androphilia: A Manifesto Rejecting the Gay Identity, Reclaiming Masculinity, written by Jack Malebranche describes the "gay lifestyle" as one that replaced true masculinity with self-loathing, perpetual victim hood, effeminacy, and overall a synthetic approach to life.
Homosexual desires are not fixed-oriented or a sexual fetish, but Malebranche, 32, declares it is simply put: The love of men. It is time for homosexual men to break away from a "politically charged gay community that does not represent their interests or values," he said and suggested men reject any notion that limits male identity," and reclaim their rightful place among the brotherhood of men.

Then again, maybe we've reached the point in our politics of true gender blindness, where the bellicosity of a male candidate toward a female opponent is viewed no differently than that between two male, or female, candidates.A welcome development, indeed, but I have my doubts we're anywhere close. Let's see what happens the next time a male Republican candidate goes after a female Democrat the same way Mihos went after Healey. If spastic accusations of sexism aren't immediately sounded, and the substance of what was actually said is mulled over instead, gender may finally cease to matter in politics.In fairness to Mihos, his obsessive focus on the Big Dig is completely legitimate. What has occurred with this project is so patently outrageous, in lives lost and billions squandered, that its perversity -- even by the standards of Bay State politics -- would be much worse if we did not have at least one politician yelling from the television, like the anchorman played by Peter Finch in "Network," "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"But it is also outrageous -- unbecoming even -- for Mihos to accuse Healey and Romney of having blood on their hands for the deaths in those tunnels.

Good evening. I thank the Chicago Council on Global Affairs for hosting this lecture, one of a series commemorating NASA's 50th Anniversary year. These are busy days for us at NASA, and it takes an occasion like this to provide a reason to pause and assess where we are today, how we got here, and most importantly, where we are heading. Last week, the Space Shuttle Discovery, commanded by USAF Colonel Pam Melroy, lifted off from Cape Canaveral. They are now docked to the International Space Station (ISS), and are busy installing the Italian-built Harmony module, which will allow us to connect the European and Japanese laboratory modules that will be flown on later Shuttle flights. Also onboard this Shuttle mission is astronaut Dan Tani, who grew up just west of Chicago, in Lombard, Illinois.
